St. Michael and All Angels, Cherry Burton
St. Michael's is a welcoming and friendly parish church which has room for all sorts of people of any age or background. Situated at the Eastern side of the village of Cherry Burton the life of the village is the centre of our focus. The mission and vision for St. Michael's is to Know God, Show God and Share God to the world around us wherever we are.
The regular worshiping congregation at St. Michael's is very diverse with people coming from all sorts of previous church backgrounds or no previous experience of Church at all. We enjoy a mix of worship on a Sundays with informal and traditional services
The building is a mix of the old and the new. The main bulding was built in 1853 as a replacement for the old Saxon building. We seat around 130 people in pews and have retained the original choir stalls, pulpit and many of the pews. There has been some appropriate reordering done in the past to create a more spacious and open area at the front of the nave as well as a small play area at the back.
We take good care of a beautiful two manual organ which is available for many of our services on a Sunday as well as weddings, baptisms and funerals.
Through the back of the main building we have access to the St. Michael's Centre. The Centre is a spacious modern hall with fully equipped kitchen and the hall can be further divided into three separate rooms. There are toilet and baby changing facilities available. The Centre is used extensively by many groups throughout the week and by our own children's work on a Sunday morning.
